Sin City

Ahhh Vegas, What makes women wear skirts a little shorter, tops a little tighter, and shoes a little higher? Perhaps it's the blinding lights in the Casino. Perhaps it's the free alcohol being served by the cocktail ladies.... Or perhaps, perhaps, it's the phrase "Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!"

Whatever it is, women love it, and get crazy over it. It is a Man's haven, or rather his heaven. Seduction is all around, with women practically dressed in dominatrix outfits, minus the whips, chains, and handcuffs...

I'm not gonna lie, Sin City is crazy. I had the time of my life, but I could never live there. It's a beautiful chaos, but chaos none the less. Even clubs are scandalous. Tao has a Buddhist theme, but the spirituality is found with nude women bathing in tubs. Other women massage each other, dressed in lingerie.

In the midst of all the chaos, my girlfriends and I managed to meet some intriguing people. We met Sonya, an older woman from Panama, who wanted to hang out with us till 6 in the morning. We met two British guys that taught us phrases like "Let's sit and watch the world go by," and words like "beetle bonnet." In exchange, we taught them what the rusty T meant. (They were fascinated.)

We also met Rocky, a baseball player for the O's, however, he didn't know that Camden Yards was his own stadium. And also really enjoyed talking about his agent. We met two bartenders at the Venetian, Harry and Paul. They fed us shots for breakfast, which was very nice of them. But all I wanted was tater tots.

Sin City was a weekend filled with booze and entertainment, but most of all, memories of my college friends and I. We gambled, we fine-dined, we drank, and we laughed. We dressed up in outfits, that our mothers would disapprove of. We all had our own fun, getting away from the usual routine of law school, work, or appointments. Our trip came to an end, and we all departed our separate ways. Dani, in the midwest, and the rest of us scattered on the east. Who knows the next time we'll all skip town again, and sadly I'd be shocked if we could once more. But either way, we will all look back at our pictures and recall the ridiculousness we had.

A Change is a comin'

The past couple weeks I've experienced a whirlwind of emotions. For a long time I've been searching for the "best" place to live. However, I realize where I live, isn't as important as who I'm with, and what I make out of life. I realize that what I want is out there, I just have to go for it. And I also realize I have to focus on the positive.

So..a change is a comin'...and I'm excited, I'm scared, and I'm happy. But where to, you might ask? Drum roll please...........Austin. Why Austin? Well, why not? This has been my usual response to family members. Yes, it's hot, but who cares, it's not Maryland. And let's face it, I need to move. Plus, I'm beginning to understand the slogan "Keep Austin Weird," and I appreciate it. It's an eclectic group of Texans and out of towners...It's fun. It's different. It's real. Live music everywhere, and people are friendly.

Overall, I want to experience a change. It will be beneficial to my mind and spirit. Escaping the safety of my routine lifestyle will bring light to who I am, what I stand for, and what drives me. I want to discover the greatness of a new city; to feel alone, yet alive, in an unfamiliar place.
